Our Library 

Resources of the Red Deer Branch Genealogical Library can be viewed at the City of Red Deer Archives, located at 4725 - 49 Street, Red Deer, Alberta.


Our genealogical resources range from how-to books, maps, directories, digital databases, local histories, to a collection of family histories and more. Join us at one of our monthly meetings to learn more about the collection and us!

Library:

Location: Red Deer and District Archives, 4725 - 49 Street, Red Deer, Alberta


Hours:  Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 4:30 pm

  • Basic genealogical references
  • How-to books and forms
  • Access to Ancestry
  • Gazetteers and maps for North America and Europe
  • Genealogical research directories from 1990 to present
  • A collection of family histories and genealogies


Many Canadian resources including:

  • Local history books
  • Alberta cemetery recordings and indexes
  • Eastern Canadian Indexes
  • Ontario Historical Atlas Collection
  • Genealogical newsletters from across Canada
  • The Tanquay Collection on CD
  • Census records on microfilm with some indexes


Resources from other countries include:

  • Research guides for major countries
  • Assorted U.S. periodicals and reference books
  • New England resources including Torrey's Marriages
  • A collection of resources from England, Ireland, Scotland including newsletters and handbooks
  • National Burial Index for England and Wales on CD
  • Index to Griffith Valuation of Ireland on CD
